Stakeholder panel and forum

This page explains how the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) obtains input and feedback from its stakeholders.

The MAC is committed to working towards its aims in an open and transparent way. It has therefore set up a stakeholder panel, which feeds into its work, and also a larger stakeholder forum.

Stakeholder panel

The stakeholder panel is made up of representatives from:

  • the Confederation of British Industry (CBI);
  • the Trades Union Congress (TUC);
  • the British Chambers of Commerce; and
  • the National Health Service (NHS).

The panel meets approximately two to three times per year and is chaired by the MAC Chair.

Stakeholder forum

The Committee also hold meetings with wider groups of stakeholders at forum events. These are often held in London, but also occur elsewhere in the United Kingdom. During 2009-2010 forum meetings are being held around the United Kingdom.

Events have already happened in Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff. The following events are coming up in England:

19 November ? Newcastle
3 December ? Plymouth
February 2010 ? Leeds tbc
March 2010 ? Birmingham tbc
30 April 2010 ? London

Places at these events are limited, and you must register in advance. Discussion items at these events will include the general work of the MAC and its review of the shortage occupation list. For more information, or to register your interest, please email mac@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk or phone 020 8604 6076.

In addition, the Committee regularly meets with stakeholders and visits employers throughout the year.
