Haslar immmigration removal centre


About the centre

Haslar immigration removal centre is run under Detention Centre Rules (2001). It was built in 1864 as Naval barracks, and was used as such until 1953. In 1962 it was opened as a detention centre for young offenders until 1989. The same year it re-opened in June, having been re-designated to hold immigration detainees detained under the Immigration Act 1971.

How to get there

See Haslar Centre on a map.

From the M27, exit at junction 11, follow signs for Gosport A32 for about four miles. You will approach two roundabouts. Go straight across the first roundabout, and take the third exit on the second roundabout, Military Road. Take the second exit on the next roundabout, Gomer Lane. This is one exit past the signpost for the centre. The official signs would take you through the town one way system. Take the first exit on the next roundabout; it will take you along the sea front. You will come to a small roundabout, take the second exit, Fort Road. Dolphin Way is on the right hand side along this road.

Visiting times

Daily, 1400 - 1600 - all visitors must arrive before 1530.
Except Thursday 0930 - 1230 and 1330 - 1600
Additionally: Monday and Thursday: 1800 - 1945 (last entry 1915) and Saturday: 0900 - 1130 (last entry 11.00)
