Migration Impacts Forum

The Migration Impacts Forum (MIF) was launched by its co-chairs, Liam Byrne, Minister for Immigration at the Home Office, and Phil Woolas, Minister for Communities at the Department for Communities and Local Government, on 21 June 2007, when it met for the first time in London.

The forum is an important new initiative by the Government, aiming to help build the evidence base for the effects that migration is having on communities and public services throughout the United Kingdom and on how these challenges can best be met.

The Government wants to maximise the contribution the forum can make to the national debate on these important issues, and it will therefore be publishing its proceedings on this website.
