The Inspectorate will assess how we are performing against our policies and objectives. It will identify where we are doing well and encourage continuing improvement, whilst identifying our weaknesses and making recommendations for rectifying them. This will support our position as an agency and help enable us to focus on service delivery.
We are now pleased to announce that we have appointed John Vine to become the first Chief Inspector for the UK Border Agency. Mr Vine will take up his post from July 2008. See the Home Secretary's statement to the House.
