European Integration Fund

20 January 2009

We are pleased to announce that the call for tender for the European Integration Fund 2007-2008 Supplementary Programme is now open. The closing date for completed applications is Friday 6 March 2009. The fund value for this period is approximately £5 million.

The European Integration Fund is aimed at legally newly arrived migrants (within the last five years) who are not asylum seekers or refugees, European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) nationals and who have not come to the United Kingdom under visa categories such as students.

We are looking to fund local authority, adult, further education and community colleges wishing to offer or expand capacity for courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) which are intended to help legal migrants to become fully functional in United Kingdom society.

We also invite innovative projects that support the efforts made by the United Kingdom in enabling third-country nationals of different social, cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds to fulfil the conditions for permanent residence in the United Kingdom. We would also welcome bids that seek to evaluate the effectiveness of existing and future programmes in bringing about effective integration.

Funding may be for a maximum of three years, and successful bids will also have to demonstrate that matched funding - usually half - is secured before funding wil be released.

This is a matched funding fund whereby the recipient will need to find matched funding for half the amount; this may be reduced to a quarter in very specific circumstances. The expected start date for selected projects is 11 May 2009.

The application form and further information can be obtained by registering through the Home Office's eSourcing portal BravoSolution. (Note that you will have to register for this site.) There will be a further call for tender around June 2009 for the European Integration Fund 2009.
