Self assessment
This section includes our points-based calculator which is an interactive self-assessment tool that allows you to calculate how many points you may be awarded under the highly skilled worker category (Tier 1 General) of the points-based system to allow you to come to work in the United Kingdom.
It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. You should read the section on eligibility first. It explains in detail the requirements you must meet to be able to apply.
To fill in the tool, you will need the following information:
- your age;
- your qualifications;
- any experience you have in the United Kingdom;
- your previous earnings;
- your English language skills; and
- maintenance (funds) available.
Once you have filled in all the questions, your points are calculated. You must score a total of 75 points for age, qualifications, experience and earnings. In addition, you must score 10 points each for English language skills and for maintenance (funds).
If you need to apply under the transitional arrangements, do not use this tool.
