Urgent applications
This page explains how you can apply for a quick decision on your application to come or stay in the skilled worker category (Tier 2 General) under our points-based system to work in the United Kingdom.

What is the premium postal service?
We usually make a decision on an application within six weeks.
If you apply using the premium postal service, we will aim to make a decision within one week of your payment clearing. This is not a guarantee that we will make a decision within one week.
The requirements you must meet
To qualify for a quick decision you must meet the following requirements:
- you are able to pay by credit or debit card;
- you plan to travel overseas within six weeks of submitting your application;
- you are extending your stay in the United Kingdom doing the same job and working for the same sponsor; and
- you are working for an A-rated sponsor.
This service is only available to skilled workers and intra-company transferees under tier 2.
What happens if you do not meet the requirements?
If your application does not meet the requirements needed, we will tell you. We will then aim to make the decision within our normal time of six weeks. Our decision on what is an urgent application is final and you cannot appeal against it.
