This page explains how you can apply to come to the United Kingdom during your gap year.
You must obtain a visa to enter the United Kingdom as a gap year entrant before you travel here. To obtain it, you should apply to the British diplomatic post in the country where you live.

You cannot apply for a gap year visa if you are already in the United Kingdom under a different category of visa. You will need to return to your home country and make your application from there.
Your gap year visa will be valid for a maximum of 12 months. You will not be allowed to extend it.
